Who We Are

At Mustard Seed Ranch, we believe every child deserves to know they are deeply loved, wonderfully made, and created for a purpose.

We provide a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered home where children can heal, grow, and step into the fullness of who God created them to be.

What Makes Us Different

Mustard Seed Ranch is more than a residential program—it’s a transformational journey.

We walk alongside children who have experienced trauma, instability, or crisis, offering consistent care, compassion, and community.

Our Approach Is Built on Three Pillars:

  • Green cutout of a tree on crumpled white paper background.

    ROOTED IN TRUTH & LOVE

Children are grounded in biblical identity, consistency, and unconditional love.

  • Orange house-shaped cutout with a round window and chimney on a crumpled light-colored background.

    RESTORED THROUGH HEALING & COMMUNITY

Healing takes place in safe relationships, with support from trauma-informed caregivers and professional services.

  • Yellow heart in the center surrounded by two yellow arrows forming a circle on crumpled white paper background.

    RENEWED WITH PURPOSE & HOPE

Children are equipped to step into their God-given future with confidence and skills.

We serve children ages 5–17 who have experienced significant emotional, relational, or environmental challenges. These may include trauma, family instability, or loss.

Our Beliefs

Our work is grounded in the unchanging truths of God’s Word. These seven declarations guide how we care for each child—helping them discover who they are, how deeply they are loved, and the hope-filled future God has for them.

These Foundational Truths - which we call Our Seven Roots - guide everything we do.

These truths aren't just words.
We live them, speak them, and build upon them every day as we walk alongside children on their journey toward healing and wholeness.

Our Story

What began as a calling became a community movement.

In 2006, Rex and Julianne Buckner followed God's call to build a Christ-centered home for children in need. With no land or funding—only faith—they launched what would become Mustard Seed Ranch.

Volunteers, donors, and churches rallied together. In 2009, the first homes opened.

Today, the Ranch spans 113 acres of Middle Tennessee countryside and includes five homes, a trauma center, barns, and more—offering safety, belonging, and hope to children in crisis.
