Our Approach to Care

At Mustard Seed Ranch, our mission is to transform the lives of children through Christ-centered care that nurtures healing, growth, and lasting purpose.

We believe in serving the whole child
— emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and educationally —
through a compassionate, intentional, and faith-rooted model of care.

Our work is built on a clear and transformational framework.

Rooted in Truth
and Love.

Laying a foundation of faith, identity, and stability

We begin by helping children build strong roots in truth and love. Every child is deeply known, unconditionally loved, and grounded in the unshakable truth that they are wonderfully made by God and created for a purpose.

This Looks Like:

  • Daily spiritual growth and discipleship

  • Loving, supportive houseparents

  • Christ-centered home environments

  • Biblical identity formation

  • Structured routines and safe spaces

Restored through Healing
and Community.

Providing the space, support, and tools for healing

Healing happens in relationship. Through a network of trusted adults and professional services, children begin to process their past, rebuild trust, and rediscover their worth.

This Looks Like:

  • Individualized residential care

  • Licensed counseling and EMDR therapy

  • Trauma-informed care

  • Equine therapy

  • Mentorship and relational support

Renewed with Purpose
and Hope.

Equipping children to thrive and step into their God-given future

Healing is not the end of the story—it’s the beginning of something new. We prepare each child to walk confidently into their future, equipped with tools, purpose, and hope.

This Looks Like:

  • Life skills & vocational exploration

  • Educational partnerships and support

  • Leadership and character development

  • Community service

  • Celebrations of growth and goal setting

How We Help Children Grow & Heal

  • Mustard Seed Ranch is licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Residential Child Care Agency, providing care in a supportive, family-style setting. Each home is led by dedicated Christian houseparents who live on-site full-time, alongside 6–8 resident children. These homes operate like families—sharing meals, worship, routines, and daily rhythms of life that create deep connection and belonging.

    Our residential model emphasizes:

    • Stability and consistency

    • Intentional family traditions and celebrations

    • Christ-centered relationships rooted in love

  • We intentionally nurture each child's faith, identity in Christ, and understanding of God's love through:

    • Daily devotions and prayer

    • Church participation

    • One-on-one mentoring

    • Personal discipleship and spiritual guidance

Children are invited to discover that they are deeply loved, never alone, and made for a purpose. Staff and mentors model Christ-like living through authentic, caring relationships.

  • Our on-site Attachment and Trauma Center provides:

    • Licensed counseling and EMDR therapy

    • Personalized therapeutic care plans

    • Trauma-informed training for all staff

    • Equine-assisted therapy

We understand the deep impact of trauma and create safe spaces where children can process their stories, rebuild trust, and begin healing.

  • We support each child’s academic and practical development through:

    • Partnerships with local schools and educators

    • Personalized tutoring and academic support

    • Life skills training (budgeting, cooking, hygiene, goal-setting)

    • Character development and leadership opportunities

Children gain tools to navigate life with resilience and confidence.

  • Service is a key part of our culture. Children engage with the community through:

    • Volunteer projects

    • Service learning

    • Vocational exposure and skills development

By giving back, they build confidence, empathy, and a greater sense of purpose.

  • Transformation is celebrated here. We mark milestones and support each child as they look toward the future. Through goal-setting, celebrations, and transition planning, children leave the Ranch equipped to pursue their God-given calling.

Our Placement Model

As a private, voluntary agency, we do not assume custody of the children in our care. Instead, we partner with legal guardians who retain custody while granting us permission to provide primary care. Children must be willing to participate in the rhythms and relationships of life at Mustard Seed Ranch.

Ongoing communication with custodial families is encouraged to ensure holistic, collaborative care.
