What the Ranch Means, In Their Own Words

A few weeks ago our kids sat down and wrote about what the Ranch means to them.

I want to let them speak for themselves.

“I realized how much the people on the Ranch have helped me in my life… it’s a blessing in my life I didn’t know I needed.”

“It means to me to heal and come down and be safe.”

“MSR isn’t just a place, it is a home. Here I have a family.”

“The Ranch means a second chance and new opportunities… all the people around me truly care about me.”

“The Ranch is a good place to live, and get help from the people who love us.”

Different kids. Different houses. Not one of them read what the others wrote.

Hear one kid say the Ranch feels like home, and that’s a beautiful sentence. Hear it independently, five times, in five different handwritings, and it stops being a sentence and starts being evidence. These kids didn’t compare notes. They landed on the same truth from completely different starting points: safe, home, family, cared for, a second chance.

Psalm 68:6 says God “sets the lonely in families.” That’s not only a beautiful scripture reminder to us, it’s a description of a regular Tuesday at the Ranch. It’s in the words of these kids, describing the impact of a vision - a picture of family that ended up being theirs too.
